How to Get to Campus?

For those coming by bike, on foot, or with a scooter, the easiest route is through the Savilahdentie entrance, also known as the Prisma side. Bike and scooter parking can be found right in front of the entrance.

Together with Savonia, Vilkku-Fillarit offers students a free access to electric-assisted Vilkku bikes for the months of September to October. You can gain access by registering as a new user through the Freebike app in your app store or at the address kaupunkipyorat.kuopio.fi. Remember to register with your student email! To gain the benefit, choose “Savonia” as your access option in the app.

You can easily find bus schedules at: https://vilkku.kuopio.fi/aikataulut-reitit. When planning your bus journey, note the nearest stops on campus, namely Savilahti E, Savilahti P, and Microkatu. You can obtain a student-priced bus card from the Valtuustotalo, Suokatu 42, Kuopio. In the future, you can load more value or monthly products onto your travel card through the Waltti online store, https://kauppa.waltti.fi/fi/, and other Waltti card points of sale, which you can find on the vilkku.kuopio.fi website.

Restaurants
In addition to the Round restaurant on campus, you can get student-priced food at the university, Tietoteknia, and music center restaurants. You can find the up-to-date lunch menu in your Tuudo app.

Library
You can borrow course books and other literature from the library. Borrowing can be done using your student card or the digital library card in Tuudo. If needed, you can renew a loan on the savonia.finna.fi website, where you can also conveniently reserve books and borrow e-books. There are printers available in the library and around campus, which you can use freely with your student card. Each student has a certain amount of print balance loaded, which can also be topped up if necessary. The library’s study spaces, known as “loossit,” are free for everyone to use. If you need a quieter space, there are small workspaces available in the F-wing and classroom spaces can also be used when vacant.

Student Services and Service Desk
Student services are located in the Campus Heart in the Microkatu B-wing. You can visit student services for matters such as obtaining a study certificate or seeking advice on various study-related matters. The Service Desk assists with matters related to student email and student accounts. For instance, if your accounts stop working, the Service Desk can help. You can easily contact the Service Desk through the student services.

PiSTE
At PiSTE, you can acquire study supplies like notebooks, pens, and books. The location also provides the option to order books related to your field of study beyond the standard selection. PiSTE also operates as one of SAVOTTA’s service points, allowing you to handle tasks related to student card stickers and more. You can find PiSTE on the 3rd floor of the F-wing, right next to CAFE SAVOTTA.

Storage Lockers
On campus, there are storage lockers that you can use for short-term storage of your belongings. The lockers are operated with your student card, and detailed instructions for locking can be found near the lockers. At the Microkatu campus, storage lockers can be found near the library’s printer and close to the seating areas.
